02 / PensionCraft / Financial software
Turning market data into useful investment tools.
PensionCraft’s investment tools help users explore portfolio behaviour. At ValueDriven, I owned the backend architecture and development behind those tools.
Project figures reported in September 2026.
The problem
Support meaningful portfolio analysis while evolving the underlying data model. Moving from annual fund data to daily feeds had to preserve existing portfolios and support currency- and inflation-adjusted results.
My contribution
I owned backend architecture and development, delivered Django REST APIs, led frontend integration through API design and code review, and operated the backend on Google Cloud.
Engineering decisions
A careful data migration
Migrated annual fund data to daily feeds while preserving more than 2,200 saved portfolios across over 1,700 instruments. Enabled currency- and inflation-adjusted backtesting.
Analysis behind clear APIs
Delivered endpoints for portfolio backtesting, risk analysis and Monte Carlo simulation. Documented the interfaces and worked with the React frontend through integration and review.
Access and operations
Designed JWT-based WordPress single sign-on and per-user access controls. Operated Cloud Run and Cloud SQL with shared caching and exponential-backoff retries, supported by Docker environments and GitLab CI/CD.
The result
A backend supporting richer historical analysis while retaining users’ existing portfolio data, with a consistent path from local development to staging and production.
